I have a problem when I go food shopping. Im a impulse buyer, and not for normal things like the latest cracker flavour or a new cleaning product. Nah, I do weird things like odd flavoured jellies and foods I cant even pronounce. I have to try them. I find that exciting. If I had passed over everything that looked or sounded weird, id never had pandan flavoured treats or the super yummy creamy custard apples, that at the time looked half rotten. This last shopping trip I found chestnut cream, It was tucked away next to the peanut butter, and Vegemite right next to the nutella. I had enjoyed the holidays with all the fresh chestnuts being roasted and cooked, that i had to have this. Absolutely amazing!

The world needs more strawberry milk! Strawberry milk cupcakes
The world always needs more strawberry milk, In every form, Drinks, baked goods, chocolate bars, covering bacon. I hardly ever drink milk, but when I do its strawberry... Its a shame my school didn't have it because I would gotten that over the soy I drank every day... chocolate milk lovers move over cuz strawberry milk is way better <3 Only epic people and unicorns get the joy of strawberry milk!
Honeydew Melon Cupcakes
There is this amazing stall at the market i go to often, At this stall is just buckets of cupcake liners, all diff styles and shapes and sizes. The also have a bunch of decorating tools and items. I finally noticed last time I was there they had flavourings. Normally I pass over flavourings since I have a large bunch and I really not a fan of using artificial colours and flavours, But a bright green on got my attention. Honeydew flavour. How often do you find that?

I love open markets. I love the small random things you find there without having to even go looking for them. Like mulberries. To be honest, this was the first time I've seen them. I had to get them just to try.. They were dried and I'm sure this wasn't the best way to have your first one. I found they were amazing sweet and light in flavour and had to make them into a cupcake. I went safe with the frosting just because I wasn't sure what would compliment the berry... I would definitely make these again. I'm now excited with the idea of what I could make with fresh ones. <3

Snickerdoodle Cupcakes
Some of my favourite cookies as a child. My Mum made these all the time, filling the whole house with warm buttery cinnamon happiness. My boyfriend never had a snickerdoodle cookie in his life so along with this batch of cupcakes I made the cookies that they were based off of. It's a shame in my opinion that he's missed out on all these awesome flavors but I'm here to fix that. I hope one day that I'll be able to share all of these moments of my childhood with him.
Sauvignon blanc an citrus cupcakes
I made my own cupake wrappers <3!!!!!
Sauvignon blanc cupcakes and citrus. These came out so well. Last week we had done a Merlot and dark chocolate (personally I didn't like them, the frosting ended with a weird taste but it might have just been me)
We were originally going to do grapefruit instead of lemon, but Dave's lovely Mum gave me a ton of lemons and I don't normally use them. I didn't want them to go to waste so I incorporated them into this weeks delicious adventure.

Pink Cotton Candy Cupcake
Dr, Pepper Cake
There are a few things not very common in Australia, Like, dryer sheets, driving on the right side of the road, and Dr, Pepper soda. You can find coke, pepsi, sprite and many other we all know very well. The Dr. Pepper, You'll find hidden away in the back isle next to imported foods at a sad price of approx 3$ a can. My Bf a very big fan of it and had received a case of it for his birthday. I figured I make something tasty to go with his favourite drink. The recipe is easy enough and I imagine the Dr.P can be switched out for another soda of your choice as long as it blends with chocolate.

Chocolate Chip and Pistachio goodness
Im actually not a big sweets type person, but I have this small place in my heart all things creamy, Puddings, Creme Brulee , panna cotta, If its made with milk and not covered in sugar Im all over it. Puddings, a sweet favourite of mine is pistachio, Light green in colour and with amazing intoxicating smell. I found a small package of this pudding in a import shop here and bought it not caring what I would do with it. Having been making a ton of frosting i was getting tired of Buttercream. I decided I would use pudding mix and make a whipped cream/pudding mix. The cake could have been anything but Im fussy enough to hate doing plain old vanilla. Chocolate chip, was perfect, nothing to over powering and yet added just perfect amount of sweetness.
Wattleseed????
Having just moved to Australia in November of 2011, I'm still getting used to new foods that I may have not seen before. This last shopping trip resulted in finding wattleseed. This spice wasn't in the spice isle but tucked away in a small corner next to organic foods. I decided I must know what this was and how it could be used, Unfortunatly the wikipedia article was short, Paragraph or so. Further Google search led me to a recipe for cupcakes. So it was decided I had to try my hand at it.

All I was missing was a Dancing Banana...
Triple Butterscotch Attack
This previous Saturday, obviously cupcake day in this house, was all about butterscotch. The gooey creamy Carmel-ly flavour you can only get from butter, brown sugar and cream cooked together on the stove, I work in a restaurant that the chef makes all his own butterscotch, This warm light brown sauce is sweet and creamy goes so well with desserts, even just spoonfuls of is wonderful, not over sweet that it kills the teeth to eat. It has a slight warm burnt flavour, like the crispy edges of a sugar cookie. I loved the smell and want, no needed some for a cupcake. Given about 500g of this sugary sauce I set out to make some to use all of it I could.
Yeah! Butterscotch on top of butterscotch buttercream ontop of a butterscotch and cream filled semi butterscotch flavoured cupcake, It was was butterscotch inception. Perfectly fluffy with a creamy filling and not over sweet frosting made for a perfect winter afternoon.

And it shall be a delicious adventure....
The beginning of this year my bf and I started a new years goal of making cupcakes every Saturdays. Simple enough, We figure it would be something we could enjoy, sort of perfect the cupcake goal. I know its May and why start this blog now, but my little paper notebook that I write all these recipes down has become worn and batter covered. We started the second week of January and have only missed one Saturday on account of sickness and birthday. To this date we have made the following flavours.
Week 1: Hazelnut and Chocolate, (they came out dry and crumbly and the chocolate ganache was overly thick)
Week 2: Sweet Potato and Cream Cheese (these were the first to be given out to other people)
Week 3: Earl Grey tea with Honey glaze ( I normally make a nice earl grey shortbread and thought it would come out well with cupcakes, was not so)
Week 4: Pale Ale with Vanilla Butter cream.
These I sadly didn't take pictures of or keep recipes. More to come later
